ASUU STRIKE: We Will Not End The Strike Until...

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said it will not suspend its ongoing strike until the four months salaries owed its members are paid.

The union also wants the immediate implementation of the N1.2tn offer by the Federal Government to public universities, starting with the release of N100bn this year. The balance of N1.1tn is to be spread over five years from 2014.

These were some of the resolutions reached by members of the National Executive Council of the union who converged on Kano on Friday to deliberate on whether to call off the over four- month-old industrial action or not.

A source, who was privy to the resolutions  reached during the President Goodluck Jonathan – ASUU leadership meeting three weeks ago, told The PUNCH on Sunday,  that  the fresh demands were some of the issues to be tabled before Jonathan by  the leadership  during their next meeting. A date for the meeting is yet to be fixed.

According to the source, a strong commitment to  two demands, among other pending issues, must be obtained from the President before the  industrial action will be called off by the union.

He said, “The issue now is  on trust and we do not want a situation where promises will not be kept. The authorities have failed us in the past and we do not want a repeat of that.

EMBARRASSMENT: How Iyanya Was Bounced From Davido’s 21st Birthday Party

Popular singer, Iyanya the 'kukere' master was reportedly bounced at Davido’s 21st birthday party which held at Pavada Lounge Thursday night.

According to report, when Iyanya got to the entrance, the bouncers refused letting him even though they clearly recognized him.

People around repeatedly told them it was Iyanya, but the bouncers still refused and said if he must get in, he had to call Davido or Kamal, one of Davido's crew member who was shuttling in and out to identify people who should be let in.

Witnesses said, most people who weren't invited where not allowed to get in, and if you must, you have to call one of the HKN group members, who will come out and take you in. Most people who felt they should be in, called Kamal, a member of Davido’s group who was always in and out taking guests in.

However, Iyanya tried making several calls, but no one picked after which he left to the amusement of onlookers who were gathered outside.

A Colorado mother got a strange call in the middle of the night from a strange source, 1-666-666-666 and within hours she received dozens of texts from multiple numbers, all displaying 'Satan' on her caller ID.

The woman, Jenn Vest was half asleep while breast-feeding her son when her phone rang from the number 1-666-666-666.

She said, "It really freaked me out because I was half asleep feeding my son and it woke me up. I thought maybe I was dreaming at first, and then I stayed up the rest of the night praying and hoping nothing would happen."

 

Jenn Vest said she tried calling the number back, only to get a recorded message saying the number was no longer in service.
