Boko Haram Takes Over Bama, Borno

The dreaded Boko Haram sect have reportedly taken over Bama, Borno state, according to Sahara Reporters.

The militants reportedly returned in full force, which led to some of the soldiers fleeing the town as the rest of the villagers to avoid being killed.
The Boko Haram sect, according to resident have taken complete control of the town and hoisted its flag in the city center.

Ebola Virus: 271 Under Surveillance - Minister

Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, on Monday, September 1 announced that 271 people suspected to have contracted the Ebola virus were under surveillance in Lagos and Port Harcourt.

The Minister who the suspected Ebola victims as at Sunday were placed under surveillance made this known in Abuja at the second emergency National Council on Health meeting on Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in Nigeria.

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Comrade Abdul Waheed Omar, today assured Nigerian citizens that if the Federal Government battled the Boko Haram menace the way they fight Ebola Virus Disease in the country, Terror will end.

Omar was talking in Kaduna during a one-day sensitization workshop on the prevention of Ebola virus disease in the workplace, organized by National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN).

Army Kills Over 50 Boko Haram Members In Fierce Battle

There are reports that more than 50 members of Boko Haram sect were, today, September 1, killed and several injured  following a fierce battle with the Nigerian Army.

The sect members were reportedly killed during an attack on Moraraba village, outskirts of Bama in Borno State. 

According to Vanguard, the assault started in the early hours of Monday at about 5.30am and the fierce battle lasted for over 5 hours.
