REVEALED: Why EFCC May Shut Laide Bakare's Boutique

Information reaching us suggests popular Nollywood actress, Laide Bakare is going through tough time.

According to reports, the actress may soon lose her newly opened boutique to the Economic Financial Crime Commission, EFCC.

The reason is not unconnected to an alleged N2.5billion fraud case her husband, Tunde Orilowo is currently involved in.

It could be recalled that Orilowo was recently dragged to court by EFCC and MTN after he was alleged not to be able to account for the money he got to purchase acres of land for the construction of Y’ELLOW Estate, for MTN workers.

However, latest reports say the anti graft body has gotten a court order to seize all properties of Laide Bakare's husband, which include two filling stations in Ajah, his house in Ibeju Lekki and the boutique which Orilowo bought for her.

Peter Obi Presents Cars, Cash Securing His Appointment As Aviation Minister

According to Sahara Reporters, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi is handing out cars and cash "gifts" to those lawmakers who might make his becoming the next Minister of Aviation more easy.

Obi, a leader of the All Peoples Grand Alliance (APGA), has completed his second term as Anambra State Governor in March 2014, and indications have emerged that President Goodluck Jonathan plans to give the post to him to replace Stell Oduah.

First, Obi was considered a replacement for Pius Anyim, former senator and current Secretary of the Federal Government. who is believed to be seriously weighing a governorship option in Ebonyi State. However, according to reliable sources, Obi's persona did not satisfy some representatives of the Peoples Democratic Party. According to sources within the party, its key members, including its national chairman, insisted that an original member of the party (specifically, Jerry Ugokwe) should take the post.

Obi is also being criticized by the PDP and non-PDP political figures for the "divisive politics" he introduced in his home state during his eight-year governorship. He is accused of setting up Roman Catholics against Anglicans, Anambra South against Anambra North, and some traditional rulers against others. Furthermore, Obi is being criticized for "manipulating ethnic sentiments" in Anambra State.

According to Sahara Reporters' sources, Obi, who is aware of political intrigues around him and intends to "soften" them, gave away a number of Ford SUVs to some key political figures, like senators from the Southeast region, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and Senate President, David Mark.

Nigerian Officials Banned 'Half Of A Yellow Sun' Movie Because Of Biafran War

The most awaited movie of this year in Nigeria, “Half of a Yellow Sun,” has been banned by the country's film censorship board because the movie partially takes place during the Biafran War.

According to the director, Biyi Bandele, the movie scheduled to open in Nigeria last Friday was essentially banned as the country’s film censorship board has refused to issue the movie a certificate. Earlier, Half of a Yellow Sun's premier has been postponed in Nigeria.

Though, the movie which is unites some of Nigeria’s major cultural figures of civil war (also known as the Biafran War) is already showing in Britain and is scheduled to open in the United States next month. It also had its premiere last year at the Toronto International Film Festival. And Nigerian actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, who starred in the Academy Award-winning film “12 Years a Slave” is one of the stars in the movie.

The censorship board could not be reached for comment about the film, but Mr. Bandele said officials seemed to be “jittery about its content.” He continued: “That it deals with the Biafran War (from 1967 to 1970). That it might incite people to violence.” Even today a remnant of the old Igbo independence movement persists in the country’s south, which is largely Christian. And in the north, where Muslims are in the majority, many people attribute the Nigerian Army’s frequent large-scale killings of civilians, in its campaign against the Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram, to southerners’ lingering fury over their treatment during the long-ago war.

70-year-old HIV Positive Man Allegedly Rapes 13-year-old Girl

A 70-year-old man, Thursday, allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl in Barkinladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakpe, confirmed this on Saturday to journalists in Jos, the state capital.

Mr. Olakpe said the suspect, who is HIV positive, was arrested, following a tip off by neighbours; and brought to the state headquarters of the command.

"A son of the landlord of the suspect, suspected the act of the 70-year-old man, and alerted the neighborhood," the police chief said, saying that led to the suspect's arrest.

The suspect reportedly admitted to the crime and disclosed his HIV status. He then pleaded for mercy. PREMIUM TIMES learnt that residents of the area had gathered to lynch the suspect, but for the intervention of the police.

The Police Commissioner said the suspect was being interrogated by the police; while the victim has been taken to a hospital in the state for treatment. Mr. Olakpe, who spoke via a telephone conference, said the suspect would be prosecuted after investigations.

Wike Is Not Intimidated By ASUP's Planned ‘Massive Protests’

The Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to the 'massive protests' planned by striking polytechnic lecturers for the next week, tagged them as 'mere propaganda'.

He also added that such an action by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) to draw Federal Government's attention to the lingering strike would not be in the interest of Poly students.

According to the position of the FG, over 90% of the demands of the polytechnic lecturers have been met. The only outstanding issue is that of salary arrears. ASUP can't accept the payment in two instalments.

However, ASUP leader, Chibuzor Asomugha, described Wike's claim that about 90% of the lecturers' demands had been met as a "deliberate denial of reality" and mixing up of facts.

National Confab: There Will Be Consensus On Key Issues — Osoba

Former Governor of Ogun State and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Segun Osoba, yesterday, said the north was afraid of devolution of power from the centre due to alleged fears that they would be short-changed in the scheme of things.

He however, assured that there was no need for any section of the country to be afraid of devolution of powers, since the present system of government in the country had failed, indicating ''that an alternative system is required to harness the full potentials of the country and deliver better and quality standard of living to the people.''

Osoba said that devolution of power from the centre was the only way to get the country back on the track of progress and development. The former governor spoke during the N850 million fund-raising dinner for the Building of Editor's Plaza held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja yesterday. The Federal Government donated N50 million towards the project.

This was even as President Goodluck Jonathan described the Nigerian press as one of the freest in the world. According to him, ''such fear does not arise since the present system of government being practised in the country had failed the people of Nigeria.'' He also said that there will be consensus on some key issues at the ongoing national conference contrary to popular belief, that such feat would not be achieved.

Osoba, who was giving highlights of the proceedings at the conference said, ''though, some groups from the North are afraid of regionalism, permutations and body movements among the delegates show that they may no longer need 75 per cent votes to agree on some key issues like devolution of power from the centre and the system of government.''

He assured those opposed to regionalism and devolution of power that the National Conference would ensure ''that the present indices for revenue sharing is sustained, so that nobody would feel short-changed.'' His words, "About 75 per cent of us in that conference know ourselves, and we are sure that there will not be the need for 75 per cent consensus to arrive at certain key decisions. I know virtually everybody in that conference, so do many others.

''We have done our home work. I tell you, there will be partly consensus for some key issues on devolution and some other key issues because most of us believe there must be devolution of power. Most of us have been in government before and what we ask is, why should somebody sit in Abuja and determine how primary education in Yobe, Yenogoa and, in Benin will be run and which teacher should teach the local language? ''For us, that is an impossibility because primary school education has nothing to do with the Federal Government; primary education is cultural.

186 Hoodlums Including Woman And Children Arrested In Lagos

186 suspected hoodlums were arrested by officials of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit at Oshodi area of Lagos State, western Nigeria, on a Friday morning.

Suspected hoodlums arrested at Oshodi early today

Among the arrested were 33 underage children and a mother with her 5 children.

The children, according to the taskforce, would be taken to the Lagos State Correctional Centre for rehabilitation.

Fully equipped the taskforce officials in a police van raided the area between 12:30 a.m. and 1.30 a.m.

Initially they arrested 206 suspected hoodlums but after screening, 20 people were set free.

Taskforce Chairman, Bayo Sulaiman, Chief Superintendent of Police, said the new suspected hoodlums apprehended were different from those arrested last week.

After last week successful operation on detention officails decided to do a follow-up as the exercise is continuous.

Arik Air Apologizes For Horrendous Treatment of Passengers On New York Bound Flight W3107

Arik Air Flight W3107 was a nightmare for the dozens of travelers who boarded that flight back on March 31st 2014. It was late, and adding insult to injury, it was also a flight noted for a lack of air conditioning.

Arik Air officials, who had earlier claimed on twitter that the videos were doctored, issued a statement saying, essentially, they are sorry.

To all guest who traveled on flight W3107 (from Lagos, Nigeria to JFK, New York) on 31st March 2014, the statement reads: " Arik Air offers an unconditional apology, for the inconvenience and discomfort caused by both the 55 minute delayed flight departure, and the failure of the airplane’s air-conditioning system prior to said departure.

“In this regard, the experienced schedule delay was a result of complications related to the cargo loading process as managed by Arik Air’s contracted ground-handling agent,” the public statement goes on to add.

“Unfortunately, whilst efforts were rightly being expended to overcome the cargo loading difficulties, the backup air conditioning unit (which should have been provided by our ground handling agent,) was declared unserviceable and thus unavailable for use. Upon resolution of the cargo loading difficulties, the air-conditioning system was finally restored as the aircraft prepared for immediate departure under its own engine power.”

While the explanation as to what occurred on that jet plane is clear as it stood grounded on the airport tarmac, for many on board, the story paints only part of the picture for the inconvenienced passengers sweating away on a flight delayed for over an hour.

WORLD CUP: NFF And Keshi Clash Over Eagles List

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi are said to have arguments regarding the release of provisional list for the pre-World Cup camp.



While the NFF technical committee, which had a meeting in Abuja last week, demands the immediate release of the squad composition ahead of the camp opening on May 26, Keshi is not in a hurry with the provisional list.

The  national coach criticized the technical committee over putting pressure on him, adding:

"First, the report was that I was to submit 40 names. Now I am hearing it is 35 players. I will only submit a list of 30 players when I am ready."

A Woman Claims She Saw Missing Malaysian Plane Sinking

An eagle-eyed passenger on a flight across the Indian Ocean may have seen the missing Malaysian airplane sinking into the sea the day it vanished - but nobody took her seriously, she said.

Raja Dalelah Raja Latife, 53, was flying from Saudi Arabia to Malaysia near the Andaman Islands on March 8, when she spotted what she believes was flight MH370 below.

"It looked like an airplane . . . I took a closer look and was shocked to see what looked like the tail and wing of an aircraft on the water," she told the Malaysia's Star Online. "I had seen several shipping liners and islands from my window earlier. Then, I saw the silvery object."

Woman Suffered So Hard 5 Day Erection, She Couldn't Even Stand

A woman suffered a painful, five-day erection of the clitoris that left her barely able to stand.
 

The 29-year-old had been taking medication to boost her libido, but had recently upped the dose, according to a medical report of her case.

She was part of a clinical trial group taking the anti-depressant medications wellbutrin (bupropion) and trazodone, the website LiveScience reports.

The legendary fuji star obviously seem to be having so many celebrations and he is set to paint Ogun state red next month as he is also going to be celebrating his 57th birthday the same week with his daughters marriage (Nikkhai) ceremonies.
The ceremonies will be held at his newly built multi-million naira mansion in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

The party train starts with his own birthday on Monday, March 3, 2014, and on the 4th of March, the following day; one of his daughters Hidayat will have her Nikhai ceremony. Another one, Aminat will also have hers on the 6th of March, while Sekinat will have hers on the 9th of March all in the same week.

Seun Kuti Under Fire Over Choice Of Daughter’s Name

Seun Kuti, son of late Afro-beat king, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti who recently welcomed a new baby with his girlfriend/ back-up dancer, Yetunde Ademiluyi in December 2013 is under heavy criticism over the choice of his daughter's name.



A low profile naming ceremony was held for the baby on Saturday, February 8th at his residence in Ikeja, Lagos and Seun's beautiful daughter  was christened ‘Ifafunmike’ which means “A child gotten from a deity”.
This action has not gone down well with many of his fans. A fan who pleaded anonymity said that what Seun did is an indication that there is more to it than meets the eye.

“Why will Seun go ahead and name his new-born baby ‘Ifafunmike’? It is rather absurd and shows that there is a spiritual undertone to the event. It is ungodly. His contemporaries who have been getting married and delivering babies have not done this kind of thing. I am disappointed,” said the fan.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed how he criticised former Spurs manager Andre Villas Boas in front of teammates.
