Nigerian Army Says They Have New Strategies To Fight Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army has said it has developed new strategies to fight against the insurgency plaguing the nation and also the force to curb future security challenges.

This was disclosed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Kenneth Minimah at the Passing Out Parade (POP) of Direct Short Service Course 21/2013 in Jaji, Kaduna State yesterday.

He said, "Already, we have developed and implemented new strategies not only to contain current threats but also to better prepare us to combat future security challenges."

He explained that though the challenges ahead were enormous, they are surmountable with courage and determination, Daily Sun reports.

Addressing the newly commissioned officers, he said the duty of the army is to remain loyal to the constitution of Nigeria and to the Commander-in-Chief, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR.
Also speaking at the POP of Direct Short Service (DSS) Commission Course 23/2014 of the Nigerian Air Force, held at NAF base, Kaduna, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu said that, the fight against insurgency and terrorism is an all inclusive one.


He added that the Air Force was sparing no efforts to wipe out the scourge of terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria.

He therefore called on all Nigerians to join in the fight against terrorism and rise above sentiments and any interests that tends to tear the nation apart

The occasion saw a very colourful parade which was closely followed by the Presidential Commissioning of the young officers, done by the Army Chief on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Last week, while assuring the people that all the security forces were taking the reasonable measures and were actively cooperating with government ministries and bodies to set up peace and ensure law observance.
