The Ndigbo Cultural Society of
Nigeria (NCSN) has urged the Federal Government to demand the full
refund of all monies paid to the Australian hostage negotiator, Davis
Stephen, for the release of the Chibok girls.
President of the group, Chief Udo Udeogaranya
made this statement on Thursday, 4 September, 2014, saying that since
the Australian has failed to secure the release of the school girls from Boko Haram insurgents, hence he should refund all monies paid to him.
Udeogaranya alleged that the negotiator
having failed woefully in the assigned mission to free the abducted
girls, instead resorted to name dropping as a decoy for services
rendered.
It could be recalled that reports surfaced on the internet few days ago where Stephen was quoted to have told ‘Arise TV’ that during his negotiation for the release of the abducted girls in Chibok, Borno State, that some Boko Haram leaders told him names of sponsors of their activities.
Udeogaranya said that for the Australian
negotiator to have gone on air and revealed these intelligence reports,
it underscores that he is not capable for the job he was paid to do.
He added that ordinary Nigerians know that
the last thing Boko Haram leaders would have mentioned is their
sponsors, while the easiest thing they would do is to mention their
enemies as sponsors.
The group, therefore, persuaded the Federal
Government not to relent in securing full refund of the nations hard
earn monies from the failed negotiator.
Udeogaranya also urged individuals defamed by
the Australian hostage negotiator’s unintelligent report to sue him
without hesitation.
“We remain grateful for the dogged fight
our government is staging against terrorism and condemned the opposition
party for playing politics in matters relating to terrorism, because
terror is no man’s brother, sister or friend. Therefore the fight
against terrorism, is a fight for all,” he said.
It would be recalled that after Stephen’s
alleged confessions were aired, the APC had accused and challenged the
Federal Government to come out and defend itself from being sponsors of
the Boko Haram sect.
Less than 24 hours after, the Peoples’
Democratic Party, PDP, released a statement where it also accused the
APC of masterminding terror attacks in Nigeria through their sponsor of
the Boko Haram group.
