EFCC Boss' Acuser Faces Trial

The trial of George Uboh, who has accused Ibrahim Lamorde, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, of stealing about N1 trillion in recovered funds and assets, will resume today, October 29, The Guardian reports.

Uboh is on trial for alleged fraud on a three-count charge at the High Court in Abuja before Justice S.A Aladetoyinbo.

He is accused of selling government vehicles illegally when he was an employee of the Police Equipment Foundation in 2007.

Uboh had written a petition against Lamorde for allegedly misappropriating recovered assets from the late Bayelsa state governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, and the former inspector general of police, Tafa Balogun. He also alleged that the EFCC chairman did not declare some of the recovered assets. These allegations are currently being investigated by the 8th Senate.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has ordered its standing committee to begin an investigation into the case of alleged non-remittance of seized funds and forfeiture of properties worth over N1 trillion levelled against the EFCC’s and past and present leaders.

The House also agreed to reassign the investigation raised against the EFCC boss Lamorde .
