Police Arrest Kastina Mousque Explosion Suspect

Following a suspected bomb blast at Yartabki village mosque said to be near Funtua local government headquarters in Katsina state on Tuesday, November 24, officers of the Nigerian police force have arrested one person in connection with it.


According to report by the News Agency of Nigeria, the public relations officer of the state police command, Aminu Sadiq, made this known to the in Funtua.

Speaking on the incident, Sadiq said that the suspect was arrested at the scene where the blast occurred, adding that he was arrested with two mobile cell phones and remnants of the suspected explosives also recovered.

The spokesman said the explosion did not hurt any person or caused severe damage to the mosque, adding that recovered items were taken to experts to ascertain what it was.

NAN further reports that worshippers at Dariqa mosque in Yartabki village, about 15 kilometres from Funtua were scared when they spotted a black polythene bag inside the mosque in the morning.
They quickly informed the police about the suspicious items. It was also reported that the suspected explosives detonated before the police arrived.
After the detonation, it only burnt the paint on the wall and the carpets, it was learnt.
