Oba Of Benin Reads Riot Act To Chiefs Over Unethical Practices

BENIN—OBA of Benin, Omo N’Oba Ewuare 11,  has read the riot act to Enigie and Odionweres in his domain for alleged unethical  practices with some youths in communities under the guise of  new leadership structures.

The Benin monarch had earlier in the year banned Community Development Associations, CDAs, for unlawful and fraudulent practices and reinstated Odionweres and Enigies as those recognized by the Bini traditional law on land transactions and other related matters. The riot act by the Oba came on the heels of the discovery that some Enigies and Odionweres were setting up various leadership structures to replace the disbanded CDAs in their various communities.

The Oba described this development as deceptive and fraudulent. Oba Ewuare 11, who has embarked on a seven day visit to some of the communities in his domain, read the riot act at USE in Egor Local Governmeny Area while addressing Odionweres, Enigies, Ohens and other stakeholders.

On the proposed Oba’s farm, he sued for strong synergies among traditional rulers   to ensure immediate take-off during this year’s farming season to boost social, economic and infrastructural development of communities in the state, and provide jobs to youths that would be engaged in the farms. He thanked Egor traditional rulers and leaders for their support during his coronation.
