HEALTH: Benefits Of Drinking Palm Wine

There are two major species of palm in Nigeria: the oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) and the raffia palm (Raphia hookeri). Both species produce palm wine. Both species are cultivated; oil palm is mainly for palm oil production on commercial scales but raffia is essentially for palm wine. The quality of wine is similar in both species but there are cultural preferences for each of the species for wine.

Submitting To Authority

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Rom13:1 NIKJV

Authority is the power or right to give orders or make decisions. So when you say a person has authority or have been given authority, it simply means such person has the power or right to take decisions or give orders to his or her surbordinates.

The Bible makes us to understand that every authority given to man has been ordained by God. If not so, that authority will not exist. In John 19, when Pilate asked Jesus Christ where He is from and He refused to answer, Pilate said to Him "Do you know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?" John 19:10. But Jesus answered him in verse 11 saying "You will have no authority over me at all if it was not given you from above" (John 19:10-11 NIV). It is only God that has the power to give and take authority. Forget about your votes, it won't count if God has not ordained it, in other words if God does not want you in that seat, you won't be there. Also, He that place you on that seat also have the power to remove you (Dan 2:21).

The Joy Of Overlooking An Offence

Joy in overlooking offenses? Yes. Joy from what? Let’s look at five things the Bible says can give us joy if we’re willing to receive them.

But first, let’s be clear: overlooking an offense must not be confused with submitting to abusive people or morally and ethically unacceptable circumstances. Jesus calls us to be foot washers, not doormats.

Article: Parental Spiritual Alertness

In my third year in the university I went to a saloon to fix my nails and met a secondary school class mate there, we exchanged pleasantries like old time friends and then began filling in on school gist and gossip. All of a sudden she peeked into my purse and saw the money that was stacked inside so begged me to help her buy Schweppes from the next shop. Her nails were being done while I waited to do mine next, I was doing nothing apart from gisting and pinging so willingly got up and went to buy Schweppes for my friend, from my money of course. I got back and handed it to her and then she begged the girl doing her nails to give her few seconds break to gulp down the soda.

The Power Of "I AM SORRY"

23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Matt 5:23-24 (NKJV)

"I am sorry," a short but mighty sentence!

If you wish to live long, don't joke with this short sentence, "I am sorry." Do you know how many people who had gone to early grave because they neglected the therapeutic power of "I am sorry."

Devotion - Do You Want Solutions To Your Needs?

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33 (KJV)
The Word of God produces wisdom when applied. Jesus Christ spoke on many subjects in John chapter sixteen for a very important reason. He touched on the work of the Holy Spirit, joy, and how to overcome the world. The words that proceeded out of His mouth gave the disciples peace of mind and heart.

Devotion - The Essence Of Hardship

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:3-5 (KJV)

Developing a positive attitude towards challenges makes maturity inevitable. God has a very good reason for allowing His children to go through hardship or challenges. Challenges instill godly virtues such as patience, experience,

The Weakness Of Leadership

The priests said not, Where is the Lord? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit. Jeremiah 2:8 (KJV)

Being able to identify your weaknesses is the beginning of mapping strategies to overcome them. Every child of God has their strengths and weaknesses. It is your duty to know them and build upon your strengths whilst you work on your weaknesses.

Devotion - Who Is Your Friend?

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Proverbs 13:20 (KJV)

The company you keep will determine your greatness. Human beings were not made to live alone because loneliness is boring. Eve was created for Adam because he felt lonely, Genesis 2:18. It becomes very vital to choose a friend or company to live with.

Devotion - Are You Compromising?

Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes. Song of Solomon 2:15 (KJV)

Knowing who you really are puts you in a position to make good choices. The Kingdom of God has all the information you need to have a fulfilling life.

Devotion - The Lord Our Righteousness

In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, The Lord Our Righteousness. — Jeremiah 23:6

Today, we tend to define righteousness as that which is morally acceptable or which conforms to rules of conduct. But the Biblical usage has a far deeper meaning and implies a covenant relationship with God.

Righteousness is more than a character trait of God. The people of the Old Testament saw God's righteousness as His actions done in fulfillment of His covenant for His glory. God tells us, "I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight" (Jeremiah 9:24). We are not simply to know that God is righteous, but we are meant to experience His righteousness.

Today's Devotion - Where Is Your Hope?

And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
—Psalm 39:7

The sea was beating against the rocks in huge, dashing waves. The lightning was flashing, the thunder was roaring, the wind was blowing; but the little bird was asleep in the crevice of the rock, its head serenely under its wing, sound asleep. That is peace—to be able to sleep in the storm! In Christ, we are relaxed and at peace in the midst of the confusion, bewilderments, and perplexities of life. The storm rages, but our hearts are at rest. We have found peace—at last!

You can have peace, even in life’s storms.

Prayer for the day

Thank You, dear Lord, for the hope I have in Your abiding love, which surrounds me.

Morning Devotion - You Belong To Christ

And you are Christ's, and Christ is God's. (NKJV) — 1 Corinthians 3:23

“You are Christ's.” You are His by donation, for the Father gave you to the Son; His by His bloody purchase, for He counted down the price for your redemption; His by dedication, for you have consecrated yourself to Him; His by relation, for you are named by His name, and made one of His brethren and joint-heirs. Labour practically to show the world that you are the servant, the friend, the bride of Jesus.

Morning Devotion - These Have No Root

They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. — Luke 8:13

My soul, examine thyself this morning by the light of this text. Thou hast received the word with joy; thy feelings have been stirred and a lively impression has been made; but, remember, that to receive the word in the ear is one thing, and to receive Jesus into thy very soul is quite another; superficial feeling is often joined to inward hardness of heart, and a lively impression of the word is not always a lasting one.

Evening Devotion: I Shall See God

And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God — Job 19:26

Mark the subject of Job’s devout anticipation “I shall see God.” He does not say, “I shall see the saints”—though doubtless that will be untold felicity—but, “I shall see God.” It is not—“I shall see the pearly gates, I shall behold the walls of jasper, I shall gaze upon the crowns of gold,” but “I shall see God.” This is the sum and substance of heaven, this is the joyful hope of all believers. It is their delight to see Him now in the ordinances by faith. They love to behold Him in communion and in prayer; but there in heaven they shall have an open and unclouded vision, and thus seeing “Him as He is,” shall be made completely like Him. Likeness to God—what can we wish for more? And a sight of God—what can we desire better? Some read the passage, “Yet, I shall see God in my flesh,” and find here an allusion to Christ, as the “Word made flesh,” and that glorious beholding of Him which shall be the splendour of the latter days.

Word Devotion - Do You Want To Live Long?

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. Exodus 20:12 (KJV)

Everything that happens on earth has a spiritual correlation. God is a Spirit and makes sure that everything that happens on earth is under His control. Long life does not happen to a child of God by chance; it is enjoyed when you honor your father and mother. Your parents have more experience in life than you do and are most often seeking your welfare so that you can bring them good name, Proverbs 22:1. Therefore, in whatever decisions you make or actions you take whilst living under their control or under their roof, seek to honor or bring good name to them and they will continually bless you. The blessings they proclaim or shower will prolong your life and make you a blessing. Hallelujah! Be Blessed!

Morning Devotion - A Crown Of Righteousness.

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
— 2 Timothy 4:8

Doubting one! thou hast often said, “I fear I shall never enter heaven.” Fear not! all the people of God shall enter there. I love the quaint saying of a dying man, who exclaimed, “I have no fear of going home; I have sent all before me; God’s finger is on the latch of my door, and I am ready for H im to enter.” “But,” said one, “are you not afraid lest you should miss your inheritance?” “Nay,” said he, “nay; there is one crown in heaven which the angel Gabriel could not wear, it will fit no head but mine. There is one throne in heaven which Paul the apostle could not fill; it was made for me, and I shall have it.” O Christian, what a joyous thought! thy portion is secure; “there remaineth a rest.” “But cannot I forfeit it?” No, it is entailed.

Word Devotion - Be Strong In The Lord!

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Ephesians 6:10 (KJV)

Applying the Word of God in faith produces good results. The Word of God cannot fail because He is God. The children of God are the hope of God on earth; without them the world will be filled with darkness, wickedness and sin. The Christian life is a promising life full of the goodness and blessings of God that is why the devil and his demons are waging several attacks on Christians all over the world.

Dear beloved, you are at the right place if you are in Christ. Be determined to grow and be strong in the Lord through studying and meditation on God’s Word, prayer, fasting, fellowship, and self-encouragement. Make good of the power of the Holy Spirit in you and be strong to put the devil where he belongs and continue to shine to the glory of God. Hallelujah! Be An Overcomer!

Evening Devotion - Thy Love Is Better Than Wine

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.
— Song of Solomon 1:2

Nothing gives the believer so much joy as fellowship with Christ. He has enjoyment as others have in the common mercies of life, he can be glad both in God’s gifts and God’s works; but in all these separately, yea, and in all of them added together, he doth not find such substantial delight as in the matchless person of his Lord Jesus. He has wine which no vineyard on earth ever yielded; He has bread which all the corn-fields of Egypt could never bring forth. Where can such sweetness be found as we have tasted in communion with our Beloved?

In our esteem, the joys of earth are little better than husks for swine compared with Jesus, the heavenly manna. We would rather have one mouthful of Christ’s love, and a sip of His fellowship, than a whole world full of carnal delights. What is the chaff to the wheat? What is the sparkling paste to the true diamond? What is a dream to the glorious reality? What is time’s mirth, in its best trim, compared to our Lord Jesus in his most despised estate? If you know anything of the inner life, you will confess that our highest, purest, and most enduring joy must be the fruit of the tree of life which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.

Word Devotion - Do You Know The God You Serve?

And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination. Jeremiah 2:7 (KJV)

Familiarity breeds contempt. The children of Israel started well with God when they entered the Promised Land but along the way they drifted and defiled themselves. They were a holy nation onto God and were expected to make holiness their lifestyle.

Dear beloved, if you are born again, you are a holy nation and a peculiar person onto God, 1 Peter 2:9. Live your life like our Lord Jesus Christ. Don’t ever desire the things of the world neither the habits nor character of the ungodly; if you do, you will be drifted into their lifestyle and defile yourself and God will not be happy with you. If you do not repent then you will lose your heritage or inheritance in Christ. May the Lord guide and protect you to live a holy life in His Promised Land! Hallelujah! Be An Overcomer!

Morning Devotion - The Iniquity Of The Holy Things

And it shall be upon Aaron's forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD. — Exodus 28:38

What a veil is lifted up by these words, and what a disclosure is made! It will be humbling and profitable for us to pause awhile and see this sad sight. The iniquities of our public worship, its hypocrisy, formality, lukewarmness, irreverence, wandering of heart and forgetfulness of God, what a full measure have we there! Our work for the Lord, its emulation, selfishness, carelessness, slackness, unbelief, what a mass of defilement is there! Our private devotions, their laxity, coldness, neglect, sleepiness, and vanity, what a mountain of dead earth is there! If we looked more carefully we should find this iniquity to be far greater than appears at first sight.

You Are Blessed!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)

Having a good consciousness in you puts you in the position to receive blessings from God. The children of God are indeed blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. It is very vital to have this consciousness in you and to live it every day. Always say to yourself, “I am blessed” and use the little you have to be a blessing to the less privileged in society.

Morning Devotion - To Live Is Christ

For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. — Philippians 1:21

The believer did not always live to Christ. He began to do so when God the Holy Spirit convinced him of sin, and when by grace he was brought to see the dying Saviour making a propitiation for his guilt. From the moment of the new and celestial birth the man begins to live to Christ. Jesus is to believers the one pearl of great price, for whom we are willing to part with all that we have. He has so completely won our love, that it beats alone for Him; to His glory we would live, and in defence of His gospel we would die; He is the pattern of our life, and the model after which we would sculpture our character.

Evening Devotion - The Hand Of God Upon Me

Now the hand of the Lord was upon me in the evening. — Ezekiel 33:22

In the way of judgment this may be the case, and, if so, be it mine to consider the reason of such a visitation, and bear the rod and him that hath appointed it.

I am not the only one who is chastened in the night season; let me cheerfully submit to the affliction, and carefully endeavour to be profited thereby. But the hand of the Lord may also be felt in another manner, strengthening the soul and lifting the spirit upward towards eternal things. O that I may in this sense feel the Lord dealing with me! A sense of the divine presence and indwelling bears the soul towards heaven as upon the wings of eagles. At such times we are full to the brim with spiritual joy, and forget the cares and sorrows of earth; the invisible is near, and the visible loses its power over us; servant-body waits at the foot of the hill, and the master-spirit worships upon the summit in the presence of the Lord.

Health: How I Hacked My Way to Pain-Free Periods: 4 Essential Tips

Painful periods got you down? Just pop some ibuprofen and you’re good, right? Wrong. Tired of treating the symptoms, one woman decided to get to the root of her period problems.
We’ve all been told (probably numerous times) that our worst period problems — cramps, PMS, super heavy flow, blood clots, migraines, teenage-like acne, bloating, and exhaustion — are completely normal. Yup, just part of this whole “being a woman” thing.

Well, ladies, we’ve been lied to for a very long time.

Are You Tired Of Praising God?

Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever. Psalms 106:1 (KJV)

The goodness of God is unsearchable; it is seen everywhere. Nobody asked Him to create the universe; He did so by His own wisdom. You and I did not ask Him to create and bring us to the earth, yet He did. The life we have comes from Him; the air we breathe comes from Him. Dear beloved, can you find a good reason to praise and thank God?

Morning Devotion - He Careth For Me

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. — 1 Peter 5:7

It is a happy way of soothing sorrow when we can feel—“HE careth for me.” Christian! do not dishonour religion by always wearing a brow of care; come, cast your burden upon your Lord. You are staggering beneath a weight which your Father would not feel. What seems to you a crushing burden, would be to Him but as the small dust of the balance. Nothing is so sweet as to

“Lie passive in God’s hands,
And know no will but His.”

Health: 11 Proven Health Benefits of Ginger

Ginger is among the healthiest (and most delicious) spices on the planet.

It is loaded with nutrients and bioactive compounds that have powerful benefits for your body and brain.

Here are 11 health benefits of ginger that are supported by scientific research.

1. Ginger Contains Gingerol, a Substance With Powerful Medicinal Properties

Ginger is a flowering plant that originated from China.

It belongs to the Zingiberaceae family, and is closely related to turmeric, cardomon and galangal.
The rhizome (underground part of the stem) is the part commonly used as a spice. It is often called ginger root, or simply ginger.

Evening Devotion - God Saw The Light

And God saw the light. — Genesis 1:4

This morning we noticed the goodness of the light, and the Lord’s dividing it from the darkness, we now note the special eye which the Lord had for the light. “God saw the light”—He looked at it with complacency, gazed upon it with pleasure, saw that it “was good.” If the Lord has given you light, dear reader, He looks on that light with peculiar interest; for not only is it dear to Him as his own handiwork, but because it is like Himself, for “He is light.” Pleasant it is to the believer to know that God’s eye is thus tenderly observant of that work of grace which He has begun. He never loses sight of the treasure which He has placed in our earthen vessels.
Sometimes we cannot see the light, but God always sees the light, and that is much better than our seeing it. Better for the judge to see my innocence than for me to think I see it. It is very comfortable for me to know that I am one of God’s people—but whether I know it or not, if the Lord knows it, I am still safe. This is the foundation, “The Lord knoweth them that are His.” You may be sighing and groaning because of inbred sin, and mourning over your darkness, yet the Lord sees “light” in your heart, for He has put it there, and all the cloudiness and gloom of your soul cannot conceal your light from his gracious eye. You may have sunk low in despondency, and even despair; but if your soul has any longing towards Christ, and if you are seeking to rest in His finished work, God sees the “light.” He not only sees it, but He also preserves it in you. “I, the Lord, do keep it.” This is a precious thought to those who, after anxious watching and guarding of themselves, feel their own powerlessness to do so. The light thus preserved by His grace, He will one day develop into the splendor of noonday, and the fullness of glory. The light within is the dawn of the eternal day.

Prayer/Medication

O Lord Jesus, be thou our light throughout the whole of this day, for thy light is the light of men.

Have You Tasted The LORD?

O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him. Psalms 34:8 (KJV)

The sweetness or bitterness of a thing can only be known through tasting. The God that we serve can be tasted; no wonder the opening Scripture says we should taste Him and see His goodness. The Psalmist sought the LORD and found Him; he saw the poor cry to the LORD and was heard. Dear beloved, can you testify of the goodness of the LORD? Remember He gave you life and air to breath.

Morning Devotion - Let There Be Light

And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
— Genesis 1:4

Light might well be good since it sprang from that fiat of goodness, “Let there be light.” We who enjoy it should be more grateful for it than we are, and see more of God in it and by it. Light physical is said by Solomon to be sweet, but gospel light is infinitely more precious, for it reveals eternal things, and ministers to our immortal natures. When the Holy Spirit gives us spiritual light, and opens our eyes to behold the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, we behold sin in its true colours, and ourselves in our real position; we see the Most Holy God as He reveals Himself, the plan of mercy as He propounds it, and the world to come as the Word describes it. Spiritual light has many beams and prismatic colours, but whether they be knowledge, joy, holiness, or life, all are divinely good. If the light received be thus good, what must the essential light be, and how glorious must be the place where He reveals Himself. O Lord, since light is so good, give us more of it, and more of thyself, the true light.

Evening Devotion - Our Heavenly Joseph's Knowledge Of Us

And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him. — Genesis 42:8

This morning our desires went forth for growth in our acquaintance with the Lord Jesus; it may be well tonight to consider a kindred topic, namely, our heavenly Joseph's knowledge of us. This was most blessedly perfect long before we had the slightest knowledge of Him. “His eyes beheld our substance, yet being imperfect, and in His book all our members were written, when as yet there was none of them.” Before we had a being in the world we had a being in His heart. When we were enemies to Him, He knew us, our misery, our madness, and our wickedness. When we wept bitterly in despairing repentance, and viewed Him only as a judge and a ruler, He viewed us as His brethren well beloved, and His bowels yearned towards us. He never mistook His chosen, but always beheld them as objects of His infinite affection. “The Lord knoweth them that are His,” is as true of the prodigals who are feeding swine as of the children who sit at the table.

But, alas! we knew not our royal Brother, and out of this ignorance grew a host of sins. We withheld our hearts from Him, and allowed Him no entrance to our love. We mistrusted Him, and gave no credit to His words. We rebelled against Him, and paid Him no loving homage. The Sun of Righteousness shone forth, and we could not see Him. Heaven came down to earth, and earth perceived it not. Let God be praised, those days are over with us; yet even now it is but little that we know of Jesus compared with what He knows of us. We have but begun to study Him, but He knoweth us altogether. It is a blessed circumstance that the ignorance is not on His side, for then it would be a hopeless case for us. He will not say to us, “I never knew you,” but He will confess our names in the day of His appearing, and meanwhile will manifest Himself to us as He doth not unto the world.

Prayer/Meditation

Heavenly Father, grant us the grace to know Jesus Christ personally and intimately because when we all do, the world will be a more better place for us all in Jesus Name.. Amen

Morning Devotion - Grow In Grace

Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. — 2 Peter 3:18

“Grow in grace”—not in one grace only, but in all grace. Grow in that root-grace, faith. Believe the promises more firmly than you have done. Let your faith increase in fullness, constancy, simplicity.

Grow also in love. Ask that your love may become extended, more intense, more practical, influencing every thought, word, and deed.

Article: My Useless Parents (Episode Three)

My dad understood my circle so well and he plans for it ahead of time. He buys my pads ahead of my monthly periods without my knowledge. After the first lecture mum gave to me on womanhood she never did any follow up again. She left me with my fate. I would have gotten into lots of troubles if not for my dad who was available for me. This is why I can't leave him for boarding school. Who will give me such attention? Who will be as friendly as my dad? Who will understand and tolerate me like him? These and more questions ran through my mind daily.

The journey to my woe started on the 2nd of June 20...... when my dad became sick and my mum wasn't available to take good care of him. As young as I was then, I played the role of a mother and a wife all together. I filled in the vacuum my mum created because of her busy schedules. Three days after, my dad recuperated and bounced back. At this time, our bond for each other had grown beyond daughter and father relationship.

Health: Giving Up Alcohol For Just 1 Month Has Lasting Benefits

Many of us will have enjoyed numerous glasses of wine, beer, champagne, or other alcoholic beverages over the winter holidays. Thus, in January, we may feel the need to take a break from alcohol. An alcohol-free month is the best choice we could possibly make for our health, British researchers conclude.

woman drinking water
Going without alcohol for just 1 month will really boost your well-being
Dry January is an initiative of the charity organization Alcohol Change United Kingdom, which encourages people to try giving up alcohol for 1 month at the start of the year.

Although the charity that promotes this effort is UK-based, thousands of people around the world pledge to take part in this campaign each year.

It is fairly logical to assume that giving up alcohol for 31
days can only benefit health, since drinking regularly is a major risk factor for cancer, liver disease, and cardiovascular diseases, among other issues.

Today's Devotion - A Simple Message

The great Swiss theologian, Dr. Karl Barth, was probably in his generation the greatest theologian in the world, and a great philosopher as well. I did not always agree with him, but he was my friend and I respected him. While he was in this country, a student at one of the seminaries said, “Dr. Barth, what is the greatest truth that ever crossed your mind?”

Article: My Useless Parents (Episode Two)

My father became my magical being; I almost could not do without him. I trusted him so much because he never hurt me. He tried to keep tears from dropping from my eyes. He was the friend I knew; he was close and listening. He was something different from my mother who was harsh, inconsiderate, unloving and hot tempered. I wasn't worried about anything because my father was also nice to my siblings alike. Myself, and Grace took after my father in everything but Faith and Christy took after mum. They are unfriendly and difficult.

Devotion For Wed, Jan 2, 2019 - The Secret Of Real Living

THE SECRET OF REAL LIVING

By
Evang. Billy Graham

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee; my soul thirsteth for thee . . .

—Psalm 63:1

Some Christians have learned little of a daily devotional life. Some time ago a policeman asked me what the secret of victorious living was. I told him that there is no magic formula that can be pronounced. If any word could describe it, I would say surrender. The second word I would say would be devotion. Nothing can take the place of a daily devotional life with Christ.

Article: My Useless Parent (Episode One)

My name is Adenike. I am from Lagos state, Nigeria. I was born 28 years ago into the family of Mr and Mrs Temitayo Fowogbade. I am the first born of my parent  and I have three other siblings; Faith, Christiana and Grace. Grace was born as a result of my parent's search for a baby boy who turned out to be a girl. And the chapter of child birth was closed.
The story of my life is a lesson to mothers of our days. The title of my story would have been better if it was "The Carelessness Of My Mother", but I chose this title for some reasons.
My mum told me to stop sleeping in her room since I was two years old neither will I sleep in the children's room but my father's room. At a time, everyone started calling me the wife of my father, "iyawo baba e". I grew up to understand what love is all about because my father showed me unreserved love.

HEALTH: Thinking Of Quitting Smoking? Today's The Day

Quitting smoking is famously hard. However, according to recent findings, the sooner one stops, the better. Perhaps today is the day?

Quit smoking today
A new study charts health improvements after stopping smoking.
Smoking tobacco, as most of us are well aware, increases the risk of a wide range of serious health issues.
Associated conditions include heart disease, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and several types of cancer.

Despite many of these dangers being common knowledge, giving up tobacco is challenging in the extreme.

That said, cigarette smoking is on the decline in the United States.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the number of people who currently smoke in the U.S. has dropped from 20.9 percent of the adult population in 2005 to 15.5 percent in 2016.

The fact that so many people are giving up also means that there are now millions of people who used to smoke.

Former smokers investigated

Already, some researchers have attempted to find out how the disease risk of people who used to smoke changes after they quit.

Devotion for Tue, Jan 1, 2019 - Filled With Christ

As we flick the calendar to a new year, we come face to face with the fact that our days on earth are numbered. As the Psalmist wrote, “Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” No thoughtful person can approach New Year’s Day without some introspection. We are reminded of the brevity of time. We also look back over our failures, mistakes, and missed opportunities, and vow that we will make better use of our time during the coming year. We should take time to be pleasant, to smile, to extend the small courtesies we often omit—to show love to our family. Psychiatrists tell us that most people are starved for love.

Happy New Year- Here’s to an amazing 2019!

HEALTH TIPS: Eight Tips For Healthy Eating

These eight practical tips cover the basics of healthy eating, and can help you make healthier choices.

The key to a healthy diet is to:
  • Eat the right amount of calories for how active you are, so that you balance the energy you consume with the energy you use. If you eat or drink too much, you'll put on weight. If you eat and drink too little, you'll lose weight.
  • Eat a wide range of foods to ensure that you're getting a balanced diet and that your body is receiving all the nutrients it needs.
It is recommended that men have around 2,500 calories a day (10,500 kilojoules). Women should have around 2,000 calories a day (8,400 kilojoules). Most adults are eating more calories than they need, and should eat fewer calories.

Base your meals on starchy carbohydrates

Starchy carbohydrates should make up just over one third of the food you eat. They include potatoes, bread, rice, pasta and cereals.

A little boy was riding alone on a train on a hot day when the travelers were extremely uncomfortable; and the scenery was not too interesting as they passed through the desert of Arizona. A lady sitting beside the boy asked him, “Are you tired of the long ride?” The little boy smiled and said, “I’m a little tired, but I don’t mind it much. You see, my father is going to meet me when I get to Los Angeles.
